The internet has been taken over by the newest health trend: yummy smoothie bowls. The great thing about this trend is it takes something as simple as a smoothie, and adds a twist allowing for more flavor and customization to your meal.
Smoothie bowls are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or even a snack. Right now, during the summer, it can be more difficult to eat healthy because you may not be on a set schedule. Since a smoothie bowl is such an easy fix, it fits perfectly into any daily routine!
Not only can you make whatever kind of smoothie you want, but you can choose your favorite toppings as well. For this blog post we chose to make a strawberry banana smoothie base with chia seeds, coconut flakes, granola and blueberries on top. If you don’t like any of those toppings or would prefer a different smoothie base, it is always fun to play around and try new ingredients.
Time to get blendin’ and dig in!
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 banana
- 1/3 cup ice
- 2 teaspoons agave nectar
- 1/4 cup almond milk
Toppings (put as much as you would like)
- Coconut flakes
- Chia seeds
In a blender toss in the strawberries, banana, ice, agave and almond milk. Add more or less agave and almond milk to your liking.
Blend on high until all the ingredients form a nice, thick base.
Pour the smoothie base into a bowl.
Sprinkle on the coconut flakes, blueberries, chia seeds and granola. Be sure to add as much or as little toppings as you please.
