A Message from Melissa Surdez — Komen New Jersey Board Member & Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer
I hope you’re taking the time to care for yourself, each and every day! It’s ever-important to carve out enough time to ensure your mind, body and soul are nourished, despite what may be happening around you.
As a metastatic patient myself, today being Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day has particular poignance. Today is a day to share and spread knowledge on what it means to live with metastatic breast cancer, including ongoing treatment to live life successfully, and advocate for advances in care by changing laws and making clinical trials and alternative treatment options more readily available.
During this month of Breast Cancer Awareness, we also have a special opportunity to join virtually for the 2020 Komen New Jersey Virtual Metastatic Breast Cancer Conference on November 15 — allowing us a safe, collaborative space to gather information and discover practical resources needed for overall physical and emotional health. You’ll also hear from me throughout the day!
Despite the madness that has been 2020, I know the future is bright. I continue to be hopeful and excited for every new advancement in research, allowing me to live my life more vibrantly with the friends and family I love so dearly. We cannot be complacent, and we cannot stop spreading the word and awareness for metastatic breast cancer. You have my promise — I will keep fighting!
I hope to see you online on November 15!
